Basilisk: inksby *AxelMedellin

Traditional Art / Drawings / Fantasy

So, here we go...

I'm a creature of ritual and tradition, and my most important ritual is the beggining of the yearly portfolio... I've almost posted all of my stock of the past year, and I thought it would be a good idea stretch the artistic muscles from now on... I'm supossed to have a good collection to show for july the 19th, and I might as well start now...

So, this is the first one: all pen and dry brush work. Maybe I won't use this approach in the following pieces, depends on how it works once it's colored. I spent a couple of hours with a dinosaur book to get the functional anatomy right...

And yes, the basilisk is a rooster with snake tail, but what the heck...

I come here to see the lineart, and I have to mention - although the color-version is gorgeous as well - I like thisone more; maybe it's my faible for pencil-drawings, maybe just my faible for under-dogs

however, you did a really awesome job here
