I love retro SF... I love technology that looks ancient (now that's a contradiction)... this, is what I think an astronaut would have looked like, some three centuries ago...
isnt it sweet how you can draw things that are completely unpractical (huge helmet, big heavy neon's on the back) yet they look so nice... thats what i love about both sci-fi and fantasy-- you can pretty much get away with ANYTHING.
as usual good amount of detail and diffrent-looking textures...
would you mind elaborating your coloring technique? i know most techniques used by people are basically the same, but its the little diffrences and trick we need to learn from.
Not a big trick, well, I don`t think so... I do all the coloring in Photoshop, with a round brush with some transparency (80%, 70%), so I can layer the color as if it were watercolour... then I treat the drawing as if it were traditional painting, I don't use the gradients, filters or airbrush tools... kinda backwards of me, right? Some times I use a custom brush for some texture, but that's mostly it... my only rule is trying to make it look the less computer-made possible.
Steampunk, eso es... lástima que lo echaron a perder con la de Wild wild west y la de la Vuelta al mundo en 80 días, ya ni quien quiera ese estilo... lástima...
I'm hoping to draw stuff like that someday. Though thinking Sci-Fi I'm thinking about a sleek translucent white design.
I think I'm going to make some more poor sketches of it. Probably try and upload it later.
A Sci-fi battle suit. It's solid white with blue linings that surround it... the design... hmmmm... It's made for humans but has a very.. other-worldly feel to it.
I hope the Begining Drawing mini-course I'm going into will pay off. At least enough to get me started. I usually have the most trouble with the beginings. I tend to do just fine once the start is out of the way.

I treat you all equally... until I learn you're an idiot.
Stick with any course you can grab, man, anything helps... I'd love to have time for studying some more live drawing and such, but there's always work to do...
I'll be really curious to see your designs... I'm more into the retro look because I love textures (besides, I can't do sleek, I always have to add details, my fractal mind)
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
